Frequently Asked  Questions

Is there a monetary limit for grants from The Jade Foundation?

No, but keep in mind that our general goal is to provide "seed money" to an organization or individual. We help projects or needs to get a start, but community  participation and local fund-raising are key elements for success. Our grant that stimulated the Stewartville Middle School "Bathroom Project" is an excellent example of how well this approach works.

What's the normal size of a grant?

Our most recent grants were dispursed in $5,000 allotments. However, we are willing to consider other amounts, both higher and lower.

Any hints for getting consideration?

All properly submitted grants are given equal review. But your chances increase if you a.) Have a clear plan or definitive need. b.) Have a tangible objective for use of the grant - (product, service, or special program initiation)

How will I know you have received my application?

Within 60 days you will receive a letter of receipt from The Jade Foundation. If you do not receive this letter within 60 days, please contact us via U.S. mail or phone.

When are the grants approved?

The Jade Foundation Board makes approval decisions as part of their meeting agenda. Meetings are held at specified times during the year. It should be noted that some charitable boards only meet one or twice every two years. The Jade Foundation Board meets on a much more regular basis.

How are approved grants given out?

If approved, you will be contacted about amount and presentation date (usually open to the media to help further your cause.)

How will I know If my application is NOT approved?

You will receive a declination letter from The Jade Foundation. We would like to approve all the valid grant requests we receive, but obviously that is not possible.   You may re-apply after one year if your grant is not approved.

Opportunity Statement

Requests that fall within our qualification parameters are given equal attention without regard to race, gender, religion, or ethnic background. All decisions to grant assistance in any form are strictly those of the Jade Foundation Staff and /or Board Members. Eligibility requirements are subject to change without notice.
